Safety Training

While I was at Purple, we developed learning resources for the Safety team to support their efforts to keep the Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) below 1% in our manufacturing facilities—and we did!
With our powers and functions combined, we were able to provide our manufacturing employees with a consistent learning cycle, asynchronous resources, expert-led synchronous floor training, safety graphics, reporting forms, and more. But one of my favorite projects to work on in the safety space was the Ergonomics series.
To keep TRIR numbers low, our teams decided that it would be a good idea to help employees develop a skill and habit of stretching properly throughout the day. Where most of our manufacturing workers were lifting, twisting, and pulling daily—we didn't want them to accidentally pull something they weren't supposed to (if you know what I mean).
What did we develop? What was my role?
I filmed an external consultant as he performed and explained each of the stretches and edited the captured video/audio files. (See video samples below.)
I added closed captions to the video to improve accessibility.
We added these videos to an LMS course, with some additional context about stretching and its benefits, and assigned it to manufacturing employees. (I assisted with the LMS course design and review.)
I took photos of one of my team members performing the stretches and edited them.
I used the photos to create a branded instructional poster that could be hung throughout the facility as a reminder to not only stretch regularly but also to stretch properly.
Floor managers then encouraged employees to make stretching a part of their daily routine.
